Synopsis: Until They’re Gone is a documentary about landmines, the people who remove them, and hope. Specifically, it’s about Bill and Jill Morse of the Landmine Relief Fund that raises funds for Aki Ra. Forced to plant landmines as a Khmer Rouge child soldier, Aki Ra began demining with just a stick and a pair of pliers in 1994. Filmmakers will be available for Q & A after the screening.

DIRECTOR: Christopher Lockett holds an MFA in Cinematography from the American Film Institute and has shot films, documentaries, and TV shows on five continents. His credits include 400+ episodes of Big Brother on CBS and Naked and Afraid XL on Discovery. The L.A. Times called his last documentary, The Typewriter (In The 21st century) “a fun compact love letter of a documentary.” The Washington Post called it “a valuable and persuasive film.”

Specifically, it’s about Bill and Jill Morse of the Landmine Relief Fund that raises funds for Aki Ra. Forced to plant landmines as a Khmer Rouge child soldier, Aki Ra began demining with just a stick and a pair of pliers in 1994. He now runs Cambodian Self Help Demining, CSHD, a demining team compliant with international standards.
Bill and Jill Morse fund CSHD through the Landmine Relief Fund. They also work as staff at the Landmine Museum in Siem Reap and Rural School Village Program, which builds schools in under-served rural areas of Cambodia.
Bill and Jill traded in a comfortable retirement in Palm Springs to work with Aki Ra. They went all in – they live in Cambodia permanently now. At age 67 Bill says: “It’s good to be part of the solution again,”
In the 1990’s, after three decades of war that saw an unparalleled American bombing, the Khmer Rouge killing fields, and a Vietnamese invasion, Cambodia was left with a terrible legacy – millions of landmines. But here’s the hope – people like Aki Ra, Bill and Jill Morse are doing something about it. And you can, too.
