Khmer Arts has been fostering the vitality of Cambodian dance in Long Beach, CA, Cambodia and around the globe since 2002. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Khmer Rouge take over of Cambodia after which 90% of the country’s artists were wiped out. While the significance of this anniversary is sobering, Khmer Arts will mark the occasion by celebrating the vibrancy of Khmer dance, the resiliency of Khmer arts and the strength of the Khmer community. We invite you to enjoy visually stunning performances by students and staff artists, groundbreaking work by Khmer Arts’ professional dance company, and a rare solo performance by Khmer Arts’ internationally celebrated co-founder and artistic director, Sophiline Cheam Shapiro.
